Bryan White of Topeka Capital Markets released a report stating that it is likely that Apple will release a new iPad and iPad mini in March. The report said the following:
Our checks at CES indicate Apple will release the iPad 5 and the second-generation iPad mini this March. The iPad 5 is expected to be lighter and thinner than the iPad 4 that was released in October, while the form factor of the iPad mini should be similar to the first generation iPad mini that debuted in October.
Is Apple going to start 1/2 year release cycles? This might piss off some consumers. What do you think?

They need to settle on a launch schedule.
ReplyDeleteUpdate the iPad Mini in March and I'll buy one.
ReplyDeletethey will lose so many customers if they keep releasing ipads every 5-6 months until now you knew your device would atleast be the newest for atleast 1 year.... now this just sucks
ReplyDeleteSo now they are going to release iPads every 3 months?
ReplyDeleteThere just milking people for there money i have just got my ipad 4 about 6 weeks ago and now its going to be outdated by apples new ipads its just getting to much and to stupid to keep realising new ipads with out any major change so what ipad 4 is twice as fast as ipad 3 it doesnt matter no app uses all of the ipad 4 processor power.
ReplyDeleteNo matter which direction they go, there are going to be unhappy people.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the above; they're still going to make money either way. So it's really win-win for Apple.
Sure the existing Apple enthusiasts believe that their self important needs dictate the success or failure of Apple. The bottom line is that for every person who is unhappy with a release schedule or lack of one; there are millions of people more than happy to trample over them and hand over their cash the next Apple product.
That's what people have said about Apple products for decades, yet they seem to be doing alright.
ReplyDeleteMost of Apple's 'real' competition for iOS has been at a very close pricepoint.
DeleteGreat! Add retina, then drop the price on the 1st gen mini to $149

ReplyDeleteYour iPad 4 won't be outdated, just like my iPad 3 isn't outdated. You're right that no app uses all of the processing power - that's why this isn't a big deal. It still works just as well as the day you bought it.
DeleteIf this is going to happen, I think the big question will be: Will the iPad Mini move to Retina so soon?
DeleteUnless AU Optronics have suddenly managed to drop 6-8 months from their production date estimates, and managed to get them into manufacturing by beginning of next month, then NO.
